The markets stabilized after last week’s sharp sell off and the major indexes gained slightly.

Our Trend Tracking Index (TTI) for domestic funds inched higher as well and now sits +3.71% above its long-term trend line (red) as the chart below shows:

The international index also recovered and currently sits +6.84% above its own trend line, as you can see below:

  1. Well, I got stopped out of my real estate ETF (VNQ.) It drew down 12.56% from Feb. 7 to March 5! I exited mid-day on the 2nd.

Fortunately, everything else in my portfolio stayed intact. And if we do indeed resume our upward climb I’ll look to re-invest the REIT funds elsewhere, something in mid-caps perhaps.

Ulli, I know you have a 9-month or so “break-in” period for new MF/ETFs but just a heads-up to let you know Vanguards new international ETF based on the FTSE Intl Index started trading this week under the symbol VEU. What sets it apart from many other internat. funds is that it includes a Canadian component that makes up about 5% of the fund.

Thanks for sharing you comments on the market gyrations the past two weeks, interesting reading.

    Goodnight,
    G.H.
