Hat tip goes to Mish at Global Economics for the link to an interesting video interview with economist Gary Shilling. Gary discusses deleveraging and the dangers of ongoing deflation, along with what he expect to happen in the markets.
I agree with his findings and views, especially my recurring theme of downside risk being far greater than upside potential.

Do I understand correctly from Mr. Shillings video that he recommends buying long – term treasuries but is short all precious metals including gold? Do you agree?

It’s hard to determine what he’s actually invested in other than U.S. Treasuries. My main point for showings this was a theme that I have discussed often. You need to have the big picture in mind by looking for major trends and not let 100 point rallies in either direction needlessly distract you.
